During the Covid pandemic we have been relying on videos to communicate and interact with our audiences. This video was developed for the American Cheese Society. In it, the organisation and the production of the Comté sector is presented from the perspective of Alain Mathieu, president of the Comté PDO (CIGC) and a Comté milk farmer in his own right.

Alain Mathieu lives in a small village of 80, Bief-des-Maisons, in the Jura mountains of France. He discusses his occupation as a farmer as well as his role at the head of the PDO. He also explores the dynamic between the social model of the sector and its success.

Viewers get a better understanding of the traditional production of Comté cheese, of the role and workings of the PDO as it relates to Comté and of the pride and dedication of the leader of the Comté sector.

The video was filmed a few days before the village was to welcome this year’s Tour De France. The viewers can see the creation of a huge fresco by the village people and the colourful event as the Tour cyclists cross the village on 18th September.
